Lets explore once more the bUZZ wORD — Machine Learning; from my lens of understanding

Machine learning entails developing our understanding of the principles that underlie intelligence

Anomaly detection, Imputation of missing values, Synthesis and sampling, Machine translation, Structured output, Transcription, Regression, Classification and Classification with missing inputs are some of the tasks that today we are familiar with and when think of solutions around them, Machine Learning is something that comes to mind immediately.

Lets deconstruct the word Machine Learning.

Learning

Mitchell ( 1997 ) provides the definition “A computer program is said to learn from experience E with respect to some class of tasks T and performance measure P , if its performance at tasks in T , as measured by P , improves with experience E.”

Task

  • The process of learning itself is not the task.
  • Learning is our means of attaining the ability to perform the task.
  • Tasks are usually described in terms of how the machine learning system should process an example.
  • An example is a collection of features that have been quantitatively…
